French is widely spoken in Europe (let alone some Arab countries as Lebanon, Syria, etc, many Asian countries as well many African ones) by non-native speakers, it's also the international language of diplomacy
?? What century are you in?
As we've seen last year, some italians have this notion that french
is more important that it really is.
Wrong again. If you had the minimum experience with diplomatic corps you'd know that even today the official language of communication is French. If I want to send an official message to a German colleague of mine I will use French, even if we both speak better English or any other language.
That's all very well (I'm not into diplomacy, but I admit germans and
italians will communicate in french, so infatuated both cultures are
with it),

You don't get the point,

It's 'I didn't make myself understood', or even 'That's not the point'.

if I say that I have to use French to officially communicate with my American colleagues too will it make it clearer?

Next you'll be telling us that the british and americans write french to each other too.

The same language will use a Russian to officially communicate with a Japanese or a Chinese to officially communicate with a British and so on.
And in order to avoid misunderstanding I say that I am talking about written, official communication and not oral communication.

but doesn't alter the fact that italians seem to think that
french is more important that it really is.

I never said this, I only said in my original posting: "(French) it's also the international language of diplomacy" which is true if you know anything about the diplomatic corps.

I was talking about 'italians', not you in particular.
