I would like to learn how to write Modern Standard Arabic. However, I
am having a hard time finding out simply where I can buy the
appropriate pen, ink and paper. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Do you need special pen, ink and paper? I've always just written Arabic with
a normal pen. There is a distinction between learning to write the language,
and learning to execute calligraphy in the script. For example, Chinese
calligraphy is normally executed using a brush, but day-to-day writing is
nowadays normally done with a pen or a pencil.
