John Hudson, the man behind the font, is one of the individual members of the Unicode Consortium.

The Unicode Consortium knows that it must not prevent such a rendering system. The Unicode Consortium maintains a list dedicated to Hebrew! Unicode has been 'clarified' and possibly Uniscribe upgraded to make the font work. The control character (officially just a non-spacing mark with no visible representation) U+034F COMBINING GRAPHEME JOINER (the hacker's character) was first allowed a rendering effect to distinguish metheg hiriq and hiriq metheg. It can now also be used to distinguish diaeresis and the umlaut mark.
