Given that individuals and committees also influence
natural languages, to the extent that they may become
_unnatural_,

Utter nonsense. Obviously you haven't the slightest
understanding of 'natural' in this context.

Well, in this newsgroup other people than Padraic have repeatedly
suggested that "natural language" means the uncultivated dialect of a
monolingual (probably even illiterate) speaker, and that only the
study of this kind of language can be called linguistics. This
understanding of language and linguistics obviously relegates
standardized, literary and written languages into the limbo of non-
language.

Where did you get "monolingual"??

"Standardized, literary, and written language" is very much the
exception and worthy of very much less study than the thousands of
unstudied languages that will soon disappear from the face of the
earth.
