(What's SS archaeology?)

(Archaeology in the times of the Third Reich. Most of
them believed in Atlantis in the north, home of the Aryan
Lichtmenschen, and that the ancient Greeks were Germans,
which claim justified the especially brutal occupation of
Greece and Crete: There is one shelf full of 'archaeological'
books published by a certain Verlag at Tübingen in my
university library, and they all tell the same: the old formula
"ex oriente lux" is wrong, the light came from Atlantis in
the north, home of the Aryan Lichtmenschen who populated
Europe and came as far as Greece and Crete. Among them
Juergen Spanuth, an SS clergyman during the Third Reich.
He saved Nazi archaeology after the war, sugar coating
the above nonsense, and he had considerable success
with it, his book was also published in the USA and was
a good seller. And it was taken seriously in sci.archaeology
too. I had a very hard time debunking that nonsense. He
is the role model of a cult archaeologist. His followers
all convey racist stuff in disguise. In the case of Graham
Hankook the racism hides in the assumptions that those
primitive Egyptians were not able to design a Great Pyramid,
this must have been done by Atlantians.)

Opportunity makes a thief... and Nazi too! ;-)
