How about a new lingustic forum?

I have an idea of setting up a linguistic forum, mainly in the spirit
of sci.lang but more professional, more developed with more people
participating possibly including scientists from all over the world.
That's what the USENET was originally for -- for scientific
discussion. But now it no longer fulfills its role and is plagued with
spam and little publicity with no inflow of new participators. So I
want to do it better than sci.lang, zompist, cybalist, starling and
set up something well... serious. What do you think of this idea,
would you participate and how do you think it should be callled.
