the hebrew word is 3alma which tends to mean more "young woman"
All he's got to do, then, is find a Hebrew original, not even the
you have the wrong text in question. the OT description of the mother
of the future Messiah has 3alma meaning "young woman". the LXX
transalted this as "virgin" in greek, and the NT out to prove that
Jesus was teh Messiah made his mother a virgin.
Message 2 references "Mary" by name, and the text quoted downstream
from that is NT. Can't see how that can be a ref to LXX.
the qualifications for the Messiah are articulated in the OT,
specifically IIRC Isiah.
the word used there is "son of an 3alma (young woman)" but this was
transalted as "virgin" in the LXX. the Gospels seek to prove that
Jesus was the Messiah", but they chose to follow the LXX rather than
the hebrew bible and made Jesus into the son of a virgin. this
reasoning assumes hte gospels are more of a literary device. but yes,
if one takes the word of the gospels, Jesus was the son of a virgin.
phantom Aramaic one of the theories, and find it free from the
repeated explicit quote that the missus was pregnant without ever
lying with Joseph (see my quote below).- Hide quoted text -
