As you say, there is a lot of stuff, mainly an introductory summary by
Alinei, which is in English. Your ignorance of Italian remains totally
irrelevant until you want to read on a couple of unimportant details.
Is there anything to this? I don't want to spend a lot of time on it
only to find out that it is a pile of rubbish.
Kooks need not attempt to supply any answers. I'm only interested in
competent linguistic opinion.
So instead of spending a minimum of time reading and using your own
brain, you'll get stupid quips as "competent opinion" on the gut
feeling of people whose competence lays elsewhere.
