After investors digested the news that JPMorgan (NYSE:JPM)
will acquire the troubled investment bank Bear Stearns
(NYSE:BSC) for $236 million, or $2 a share - its shares
traded above $170 a year ago - and that the Federal Reserve
had lowered its discount rate another quarter percentage
point Sunday night, stocks seesawed in a mixed day.

What's the problem? The main verb is obviously 'seesawed',
'stocks seesawed' being the irreducible core.
