Bruxeler (Alors là, mon vieux, tu bruxelles!), the imperfect would be
pronounced with a schwa -- which is indeed the way Brel pronounces it
in the phrase "Quand Bruxelles Bruxellait" (ie bru-ce-lait, not bru-
celle-ait).

The verb is not bruxeler but bruxeller. That the inner e goes muet or
almost in some "less careful" speech is natural. Not a reason for
giving it an etymologically impossible shape, though.

Also, can we please stop the highly irritating habit of calling the e
muet "schwa"? This is not Hebrew or English and the e muet has zilch
to do with that. It is misleading.
