So the Aryans invaded Europe?

I think William Jones has so addled the heads of comp linguists to the
present day that the first thought that jumps into their head to
explain language contact/spread is "invasion".
And I can see what addled William Jones in the first place - he had
evidence of real invasions of India (Alexander, The waves of Arab/
Persian/Afghan invasions and of course his own invasion) and evidence
of linguistic kinship of Sanskrit with Greek Latin etc. He took the
past of least intellectual resistance and declared that Sanskrit (or
protoSanskrit or whatever) was brought to India by invaders.
The PIE myth (linguistic influence only into India) has been built up
over centuries and many Indians are now in a reactionary stage trying
build up a countermyth (linguistic influence only out of India). The
next stage will see the truth emerge. What I think happened is - all
higher cultural (excluding science and engineering) developments of
Eurasia came out of India -religion, metaphysics, myths, moral fables,
grammar etc.- whereas the basic lexicon of what the West calls PIE
developed over a large region including present day India, Greece,
Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan etc.
