There is no advantage between "theatre" and "theater".
Theatral, theatrical, theathre all share <theathr->.
How's that again?
And the spelling <er> better reflects the sound at the end of the word
(especially for the non-rhotic minority!) and parallels the homonymous
comparative and agentive suffixes.
