Dearest Grapheus,
Thank's for your immediate Replay.
It's not strange you write: "I don't understand what you mean by
that..." cause my anglo-saxon's expressions ignorance.
I wished to say: Have you ever tried to take a piece of clay to repeat
the work the ancient stamper did? You'll easily state there are many
problems to do that (I have to extract more then 1.500 images to
accomplish - I hope - this task).
I thought mainly there are lack on this side of Disc studies (please,
consider I have a quite complete collection of all the questions on
this matter; you remember, e.g., the attempts made
by dr. Dieter Rumpel: "http://.../ANISTORITONJournal of History,
Archaeology, ArtHistory In Situ2.htm" ?);
Yes, I know about Dieter Rumpel's attempt. But he didn't follow the
most probable way the stamps were made, i.e. of METAL, what makes his
"reconstruction" not very useful !..
look at lines incisions
attempts on "Trace2.jpg".
I was agree to the exterior-center stamp direction,
This is the essential... And this unquestionable FACT has been
neglected by lots of would-be-decipherers !!!
but... look at
"D001-D004.jpg" or "DiscoF2-F1ArrowsbisI-Ter-Quater.jpg".
About iconographic results I had to adfirm the images of many Signs
are many times very rough: look please, for example, at the "ship"
drawing: "Type37.jpg" (don't consider, please, that
particular signs' numeration); on erasures and "sub-sings", look at
"DiscoF2CompResEx.jpg".
You should post your photos on the NET...
It is difficult to understand what you mean without seing them...
It's very meaningful you have so many certainties on Disc and probably
(excuse me: surely) you are an expert of this (and many other ones)
matter, so you can explain me something, if you're
(surely too) so benevolent.
I started my researches with the idea of writing a book on the diverse
decipherments of the Disk, but when I have known the "Proto-Ionic
Solution", I changed my mind, and my aim became to make known what I
considered as THE solution, to compensate the fact that its author
doesn't give a damn about recognition of his work!!! (A strange guy,
indeed !)..
By my side (I'm a poor High School teacher and a strange kind of
classicist, now devoted to a longest revision of Pliny's Natural
History... imagine, please) I wished mainly to find on this:
A) made on clay,
B) stamped, and
C) double-sided find
the following researches-acquisitions:
A) a complete analysis of the material to improve our knowledge on its
provenance;
B) the opinion of an expert in clay (I mean a sculptor or similar
artist) to define all connected practical problems in stamping on it;
There is no real problem, once the metallic stamps have been done. The
irregularities in their design comes from the fact that they have been
fabricated by casting.
Best regards
grapheus
finally
C) a real reconstruction of the Disc, very useful for students to have
a virtual copy, made possibly by (f. e.) computed axial tomography.
I think these are essential things we need. Or not?
Thank's so much.
FGC
P.S.
I'm (more) not expert in mail sending, so I'll use an other mail box
to send you (in "graph...@xxxxxxx"; is it correct?) the .jpgs (can you
explain me how I can send images using sci.lang ? I think it's
impossible).
