All the technologies we all enjoy today that are ensembles of hundreds or thousands of new ideas that have been lauded and embraced, not hated. Besides that, look at all the universities that *expect* their doctoral candidates and professors to come up with new ideas. Look at all the think tanks that pay experts to come up with new ideas. In light of all this, such a remark from you is nothing more than self-justifying paranoia.
