You say you got absolutely no interest in the Ph.D,,
but of course you must absolutely dominate this
discussion on the Ph.D. Now the time has come
to speak about the motivation behind your postings.
Four years ago I revealed my definition of language
from 1974/75: Language is the means of getting
help, support and understanding from those we
depend upon in one way or another, and every
means of getting help, support and understanding
may be called language, on whatever level of life
it occurs ... You told me: No, your language is not
motivated or driven by needs and wishes. I kept
quiet for all these years, but now the time has come
to say what drives you: you need to exert power,
you are wishing for power. You posted 30,000
messages to sci.lang, quick shots most of the time,
you must mark your presence everywhere, claiming
you are absolutely not interested in the topic but of
course you must dominate in this thread, on this
topic. And _you_ decide what is an argument
and what is not an argument, and _you_ decide
what is evidence and what is not evidence. Very
clearly a power complex. You gave invited lectures
on five continents, but apparently you never got
a vocation by a university, albeit you are a Ph.D.
Did it ever occur to you that a dogmatician of
your caliber, that obsessed with power, is not
even bearable in academe? You joined sci.lang
and you do a fairly good job as informal moderator.
However, sadly, your merits are diminished by
your power games.
