A one-syllable word beginning with an <r>, I meant. As it is, I gave up rhythm for alliteration.
but it's raise (transitive), not rise (intransitive) -- cf. lay and lie
Thanks, I think I used to know that, but my son's been reading the English gloss <rise> into my right ear for a week.
