how likely is it that they are *not* related?-
To take a not uncomparable example from English, how likely is it that
"bear" and "beard" are *not* related? (Try to keep in mind that
consonants are somewhat more significant in Semitic lexical items than
in English ones.)
Sure, I get your point, but "bear" and "beard" don't have similar
meanings!
