The divine hind CER -: I -: and what became of her
part 1
CER -: I -: or CER LIL (pronounce the sound given as -:
by touching both lips with the tip of the tongue) was the
divine hind or hind woman. She licked moon bulls into life,
thus creating time, lunations or synodic months of 30 29
30 29 30 29 30 29 30 29 30 ... days. Her constellation
was Orion, while the moon bulls waiting to go on their
heavenly mission were present in Aldebaran in Taurus,
from Magdalenian TOR meaning bull in motion.
The goddess was flanked by a pair of opposing ibices
that marked midwinter (Marie E.P. König) while she
was invisibly present in between them.
Twigs mark her presence and function as vegetation
goddess. Arbors may have been built in her honor:
a winter hut made of fir twigs and branches, a spring
hut covered in blossoms, a summer hut of green twigs
and branches, and an autumn hut covered in colorful
foliage.
The waxing and waning moon symbolize the life
cycles - the one of vegetation, the one of animal
life, and the one of human life including the
promise of a next life ...
Bees and bee swarms became another emanation
of the goddess in the times of agriculture.
In the following messages I shall discuss the
presence of the goddess at the following places:
Lascaux / Altamira / Angles-sur-l'Anglin / Veyrier /
Dames Jouane / Ukraine / Lurestan / Ephesos,
furthermore Crete and the Peloponnese. A wide
field for a comparative study in visual language.

Apashes apis Ephesia Ephesos.
I just saw a TV documentary on Ephesos,
an old form of the name being Apashes,
and the Anatolian feritlity goddess Ephesia
whose animal was the bee - and had an
idea of what the original bee word could
have been: AS PAS SA --- upward AS
everywhere (in a plain) PAS downward SA,
the bee that rises into the air, upward (as),
moves in any direction (pas) and descends
again (sa). Will have to check the PIE word
for bee. Latin apis could well be a derivative
of AS PAS SA - the Anatolians and the
Mycenaeans (who had contact with Anatolia)
must have known about the importance of
the bee in agriculture, and the same is true
for the Minoans, and for the Neolithic dwellers
of the Ukraine, where the bee goddess appears
in the shape of Orion - and while I write these
lines I realize that there is much more to say,
so I will start a new series of messages on
the goddess CER -: I -: or CER LIL ...

Indus seals (part 16)
Indus seals read as ideograms,
four e-mails to Dr. Steve Farmer,
early evening of August 4, 2009,
third and fourth e-mail:
My specific model of the Harappan society does not
raise protest from your side, which I consider a first
successful test. Thanks, FG
PS. Visual language, I found, can be as precise as
verbal language, and I believe to have read this
also in your online article, which is why I contacted
you, confirming your opinion about the Indus seals,
or the opinion I believed you have of them.
Thank you for having taken your time. What I can tell
you from my side, having interpreted paintings for 35 years,
is that visual language (pictures, drawings, pictograms,
ideograms, also plastical shapes) can convey as much and
precise information as does verbal language (phonemes,
syllables, words). Regards, Franz Gnaedinger

Indus seals (part 15)
Indus seals read as ideograms,
four e-mails to Dr. Steve Farmer,
early evening of August 4, 2009,
second e-mail:
Did you read my page so quickly? I make a lot
of predictions or rather retrodictions about the
Harappan society. It relied on communal work,
mostly in the season of the buffalo, between
September 23 and December 21. Families payed
taxes by sending valid members to contribute
to the public weal, mostly by working in the
fields, and in the brick manufactures, and those
who did an excellent job, a really outstanding
job got honored with a seal. My pre- or retrodictions
are very specific, and sooner or later a test case
will arise. One of them is that tubes were not only
used for conducting water but also warm air, for
heating houses in the cold winter. And fish was
the predominent diet, also in the form of fish
paste, comparable to the Roman garum, and fish
meal, and fish powder as an instant fish broth.
The most frequent seal H-252 till 277 and H-859
till 870 honors families of excellent fish smokers.
My reading gives a detailed picture of the Harappan
society. And explains the Sumerian name fo the
Indus Valley as the valley of the Seven High Places,
namely the hypothetical seven artificial hills around
a sanctuary in the center as a specific Indian
lunisolar calendar. Remains of such a seven-hill
calendar sanctuary could perhaps be identified
in the surroundings of Mohenjo-daro and Harappa.
Regards, FG
PS. As for the end of the Harappan society:
my reading of the seals would indicate that the
system of the communal work and the honoring
seals must have collapsed by the middle of the
first millennium BC
(Correction from August: the Sumerian name was
of course land of the seven high places)
