That's because the text book theory is correct. I've seen people give
you several different interpretations of what Godel's theorem means
which did not come out of a text book but could be supported by one
with a little bit of work.

When you're surrounded by assholes, you really need to stop and think:

That's a great logical argument. Here's another:

Spock is a vulcan. Every Vulcan is logical. Every Vulcan understands
Godel's theorem. Therefore, Spock understands Godel's theorem.
Therefore, Spock disagrees.

Another:

Luke Skywalker is a Jedi. Every Jedi understands Godel's theorem.
Therefore, Luke Skywalker understands Godel's theorem.

In symbols:

Ax(Vulcan(x) -> UnderstandsGodelsTheorem(x))
Vulcan(spock)
|- UnderstandsGodelsTheorem(spock)

and

Ax(Jedi(x) -> UnderstandsGodelsTheorem(x))
Jedi(luke)
|- UnderstandsGodelsTheorem(luke)
