Alternatively, if you can tolerate dumpster-diving ...
(1) Killfile garbage-spewers by name, not by thread,
(2) Before you (a non-garbage-producer! ;o) reply to
another non-garbage-producer in a thread that's mostly
filled with garbage, consider whether it might be better
to start a new thread -- to both make your post visible
to those who do killfill threads, and to deflate the
threads that are mostly garbage.

Not perfect, I know; but it seems a shame to bury even
an ounce of worthwhile discussion in a ton of garbage.
