As the world slowly dawns onto the idea that Color Mapping was 2 Color and not 4
Color Mapping as presumed from Guthrie to Cayley to Sylvester to other prominent
mathematicians ( I doubt that Poincare ever looked at 4 Color because Poincare
had a great enough mind to spot such a huge error of logic of ignoring
borderlines).
Anyway, there are many Maps that have what I call borderlines without country
interiors. Whereas the old 4 Color Mapping never has such a thing.
This post itself is a Mapping and requires like all Mappings for just 2 colors of
black and white. Letters such as "o, e, p, g" have tiny country interiors but
letters such as "i, t, u, v, m" are what I call borderline fragments or pieces of
borderline but no interior to make a country. But the surrounding sea or ocean of
white color on this post is the interior of one huge country that happens to have
many tiny countries and alot of borderline fragments.
So I put the question to the poster from Harvard that the 2 Color Mapping is ever
more powerful and more general than any expectation or hope by the Cayley 19th
century 4 Color Mapping.
I do not know why mathematicians lacked the penetration of clear logic for over
150 years and letting 4 Color Mapping deceive so many practicing mathematicians.
One possible answer for this shortfall of logic is that many people when they
arrive at this problem have a sense and a feeling that a demand that 4 different
colors separate 4 countries at a 4-corner-region seems logically sound. But is
not logically sound when borderlines are ignored in the formulation for a Precise
statement. So it is psychology that has misdirected and misguided Mapping problem
of Cayley.
I am perfectly happy and easy to differentiate the 4 corner states of Utah
Colorado New Mexico and Arizona without need of 4 colors and just rather instead
the plain black borderlines and white interiors. So it is this psychology that
has mislead 4 Color Mapping for 150 years.
