Please forgive my own silly errors in this post... substituting livers
for kidneys, using criteria as singular, and various typos... I can
only plead that I was not fully awake when I clumsily typed this note.
But my question remains. Can Quine actually intend that we drop the
notion of properties or features of a class, and keep only the notion of
the class itself?
To me it seems that much of both science and ordinary perception
proceeds by noting correlations among distinct properties or features
which could in principle be independent. Objects are collections of
separable properties which are found to be packaged together in
practice. We discover scientific principles by noting covariances and
positing connections among separately discernable properties. Can
someone translate this into the language of classes for me? How would
Quine have me say it?
