Bernard, you deserve credit to your intelligence to be skeptical of the
Jesus story and the New Testament, but then you fall below those "gullible
believers" when you fall into that pit claiming that Jesus as a human
never existed. At least from you last posts to this thread you leave the
impression of a person who doubts that Jesus even existed and you doubt
the recent science examination of the Shroud of Turin.
Why do you doubt that recent science exam. One of those scientists took a
cloth, a modern day cloth and bathed it in sweat and blood for modern day
bacteria and placed the cloth into some aging chamber to simulate
thousands of years of aging and found that the cloth held a photograph
like image.
Bernard, so do you doubt that the method of science is REPEATABLE? I mean,
if we can repeat photo image from sweat and blood on cloth today, tomorrow
in a lab and repeat the Shroud of Turin any time any scientist wants to
repeat that experiment of making a photo image on a cloth. Well, Bernard,
end of discuss with you because you cannot understand or accept science
for one of its founding tenets is Repeatability.
Those first researchers into the Shroud of Turin were given an end piece
of the Shroud cloth that was unrepresentative of the entire cloth and also
those first researchers were not experts of what they were doing for that
oddlot sample. In a word, those first researchers of the Shroud of Turin
did bad and wrongful science.

I find that hard to accept. I know the Dark Ages lasted a long time. I
know that the Christian Church had centuries and millenium to destroy any
text or alter any text or written word that told a different story of
Jesus. But I find it extremely difficult that the Jewish religion would
have destroyed or altered all of Josephus original text.
Somehow I want to believe that somewhere on Earth is a original Josephus
text. The Jews never believed in the Jesus story because the Jews knew
Jesus was a man of flesh and blood like every man and that there was
absolutely no supernatural power in Jesus or any person ever born on
Earth. So I want to believe that the Jews somehow, somewhere, saved an
original text of Josephus history accounts of the 1st century. I want to
believe that although there were thousands, perhaps millions of Christians
who would alter and destroy anything written or painted in history that
was contrary to their New Testament story of Jesus, that it was not a
thorough and complete destruction of those true facts and true history.
But at least I learned something new. I learned that the 2 paragraphs in
Josephus were not Christian add ons of later centuries but in fact that
Josephus was too revealing of Jesus and spoke of Jesus as the fellow
terrorist of the 1st century. Perhaps Josephus was even related
genetically to Jesus or James. And that the Christian scribes had no
problem of including Jesus into Josephus writing but the reverse problem
that Josephus revealed too much of the true history of Jesus as a Roman
terrorist who used religion as a cover or guise for his violent activity.
And perhaps if one reexamines the letters by Paul one gets the sense that
rarely does Paul ever talk about details of Jesus life as a preacher and
sayings to a religion congregation. No, instead, the letters by Paul to
the Ephesians or Galatians are in the tone of "when the lights of Goodness
defeat the Darkness."
Suggesting to me that Paul and James never had much to do with writing the
New Testament and that the New Testament was a myth story come into
creation after 70 A.D. when the Jews were thoroughly defeated and when a
Jewish sect could then mythologize the Jesus story of terrorist into a
100% man of religion and that it is useless to fight against the Roman
occupiers.
Bernard, I do not accept the idea that a original Josephus no longer
exists and that the Christians destroyed or altered all the original
Josephus texts.
