hard to tell isn't it! before movie stars, fame belonged to the genius
as word travelled of their accomplishments. centuries of respect has
lured scientist and pseudoscientist alike. but this "mathematicians
not making mistakes" and "absolute truth" is another century away,
there is much chaff and leaf nodes of theory that attaches itself onto
real branches of mathematics.
what C.S. should do is make it a history lesson. there's 20 major
theories in C.S. and we only know a few of the names behind them.
Turing was perhaps a less fundamental theorist than he is recognised
for but he had the sense to call his work a Turing Machine.
