Also: "Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist party?
Are you know or have you ever been a member of an organization dedicated to
the violent overthrow of the United States? Are you now or have you ever
been a member of an organization that propagandizes that borscht is better
than apple pie?"
I recognize that my post may have seemed to be an interrogation, but I
intended for the post to be taken at face value - a questionnaire without
presumption that answers are right or wrong. The purpose is just to
understand exactly what it is that people disagree on. For example, one
poster in the last few days has been battling several other posters about
uncountability. But it seems to me that the conflict tends toward being
nugatory if we just address the poster with the understanding that he is not
speaking in context of formal axiomatic theories. So instead of butting
heads with this poster, for hardly any observable intellectual benefit, one
could just take up the more fundamental question of why the poster rejects
or ignores formal axiomatics.
