I translated "Bedeutunglos" as "meaningless", correct. But if you
look, you see I put [Bedeutunglos] in square brackets to remove any
possibility of interpreting it in that way. At least, so I thought.

In any case, it's well known that the 3rd edition translates
"Bedeutung" as "meaning". The fact you don't know this is telling.
