I had in mind a hypothetical moderated newsgroup the moderator of which had set up some sort of membership registration system. I don't think there are any actual examples.


I recently wanted to discuss something on comp.lang.perl.moderated. I
had to become "registered as a poster" before the automated system would
pass my article to a human moderator. In a sense, the registered posters
could be called "members".

However, anyone can lurk without registration.
