I'm claiming that mathematics has a purpose; it is not merely a game.
Its purpose is to provide tools that help us understand the world in
which we live. And, so I allege, if mathematics does not have the
property of being "observable" as I have defined it, it does not have
the potential to provide those tools -- it is merely a game And, so
I'm claiming, there is something wrong with the authorities using the
publicly funded educational system to force students to play games.
