Re: Theory of God and the universe

Growing up in a Christian family, I've had a chance to get an in dept
understanding of Christian belief. What strikes me the most is how
much Christians refuse to accept science as part and parcel of God.
Being also a firm believer in science, I have come to the conclusion
that what is written in the bible is much closer to what they do in
labs than it is to what they preach in church.
My theory is based on the simple fact that I have come to believe
that go is indeed a form of energy. To be brief, I will draw you to
'the matrix' concept where computers generate a simulated world where
all the normal laws of physics apply and are supported by special
programs. What in fact makes this possible is the fact that programs
only need to simulate five aspects of every part of existence since
this is all a human being can perceive.
If you think about the world that we think exists here with us, the
same applies. The existence of anything is based solely on what we
hear, see, taste, smell and feel. So why is it not possible that all
this is simulated to fool our minds to thinking that we are here when
we are actually not.
The bible says god created the world in three days. It goes on to
say that he did it by simply saying 'let there be'. Bingo! At this
point, think about java, c++, actionscript... what are they in simple
terms. Nothing more than words. We type words into computers that give
it the power to simulate something and fool the human senses to
thinking that they are looking at something that in actual sense does
not exist. Does the the box one creates in the 3ds max world actually
exist anywhere in the world? Yet the software is designed to fool the
human eye to thinking there is a box there when there isn't. What if
in the future we will have softwares that fool more than just the
human eye. What are the possibilities?
LOOK OUT FOR THE CONTINUATION.

Indeed that is an issue; AND the source of a great many discussions
over the years. My situation is similar but I ended in a different
place.
You are expressing what is called in classic terms a "Deist"
philosophy (There IS a god but not what we have come to understand in
any form). I grew up in a mainstream denominational, church-going
family. In my teens I rejected that and started looking for other
forms of spiritual fulfillment. Long story short: I ended up back in
church, first at a pentecostal type church, then a charismatic
denominational church and now in a denominational church once more.
The position you take is that ALL Christian churches have the view you
purport. That is NOT the case. Mine recognizes the fact that the way
we interpret the Bible may not be correct in light of the world around
us (like being the center of the universe) but it IS God's "Word" to
us. Without a basis for some believe, it is possible to make-up all
sorts of things (pink bunnies rule the galaxy and we are but tadpoles
in their minds). There IS a starting point. use it.
Next, God may indeed be the energy that binds us all together.
There is, however, a persona that exists in the concept of God. In
other words, there is an intelligence and compassion aspect that is
common to most theologies. You hit on an exciting and important
aspect to all this. We don't know everything. As we are finding out
more and more it is shaping our views on science, society, and
religion (well, some don't want to be shaped - I'll give you that!).
I think you'll find that there are forms of religion that recognise
God in the Bible and yet also accept and embrace that facts and
theories of science. After all, we live in the United States on a
piece of dirt that didn't exist in the Bible - or did it? Yes,
Virginia, there is a God. And God choose to be known to us. We have
the tools. We have the science. We just need to make it right. take
another look.
