So, you are saying God made things a certain way in order to deceive
us? Is it consistent with the nature of God, to deceive?

On a more general point, why did God in fact create the world in a way
that is highly deceptive, in such a way as to lead many people, not
unreasonably, to believe that there is no God?

To make life worth living, perhaps ...
