I think that the liquid nitrogen idea might actually work (excuse me if
I'm wrong - I haven't thought about it for very long). It reminds me of
the old "fireless locomotives" (e.g. see
http://www.nrhs.com/web_exclusives/fireless_cooker/) in which there is
no fire - the boiler is filled with very hot water and steam under
pressure - and as the steam is used to propel the vehicle, the reduced
pressure in the boiler will allow more of the water to vapourise
into... steam!
