Hello,
I need to extend the life of a silicone-nomex wastegate actuator diaphragm.
It is subjected to high temperature and it eventualy fails. Would coating it
with silicone oil result in longer life span until I find the replacement?
Can I do anything else to extend its life? This is for an automotive
application where the wastegate bypasses the exhaust gases around the
turbocharger in order to regulate the boost.

What usually happens is that cold starts do surprisingly little damage to the filament, while a filament that is approaching end-of-life becomes unable to survive a cold start a little before becoming unable to survive steady operation. ... I managed to get an indirect reading of voltage drop across the "button" and the lightbulb while the "button" was in place and fully warmed up, and it turns out the "button" dropped enough voltage to dim the lightbulb enough to extend its life 50%. ... Re: Reviving Lazy Cells? ... there are an awful lot of products out there that make claims about extending lead acid battery life with high voltage pulsing to prevent/reverse sulphation.... i know the plates were abused to get them that way but unless the photos are fake it looks like it really does work sometimes at least to extend the life of badly damaged cells. ... they aren't selling desulphators, they are giving the plans away free online to build your own. ...
