Re: best intro to finite element method book

Hello group.

What is the best introductory book to the finite element method?

There are many choices, depending on whether you want to
study FEM from the mathematical or physical perspective,
textbook vs. reference vs monograph, whether you want to learn
programming, etc. Personal recs given graduate students taking my
introductory course are collected in Slide 18 (last one) of

http://caswww.colorado.edu/courses.d/IFEM.d/IFEM.Ch01.d/IFEM.Ch01.Slides.d/IFEM.Ch01.Slides.pdf

This was last updated 1998, so it may be a bit out of date with
current offerings.
