given a matrix:

1 w w^2 w^3
w w^2 w^3 1
w^2 w^3 1 w
w^3 1 w w^2

show that the deterinant is + - 3i(3^1/2)
where w^3=1

If w^3=1 then why do you have both w^3 and 1 as entries in the matrix?

Matrix is a 4x4 circulant so diagonalize it with a unitary transform
(hint: 4x4 Fourier matrix) and multiply the diagonal entries.

The use of w like this such smells of Fourier related homework!
