Help on the source terms.

Dear People,

I am new to numerical analysis. Now, I want to perform simulation of
light scattering problems by FEM or FDTD method. I have a doubt.

Assuming we have a scatter in the open region, plane wave excitation.
Then in numerical methods, we always need to truncate the open region
to a limited size compuational region. And also use some Abobsring
Boundary Condition to remove reflected wave from this artifical
boudnay. My doubt is on the source: The plane wave source comes from
infinity. Then How to set the source inside our compuational domain? I
get to read some document that says, under external excitation, there
is equivalent to the induced current or charge on the scatter. But how
to write these induced source? Can anyone recommend a good reference
material or book which explain this thing clearly, e.g., formulation of
plane-wave induced source in the scatter, or Gaussian Beam induced
source in the scatter

I look forward your help. Thanks.
