Practical value of factorials and primes

It seems that some people spend allot of time trying to fing the
largerst prime number or to tabulate what would be a factorial of some
large number.
My question is:
Is there any practical benefing from knowing a factorial of a large
number, or for that matter knowsing the next largest prime number?
