Re: A* / what does this represents?

hi,

I'm a bit confusing in this notation,
please clarify me.

while I'm doing a problem
(from a calculus text book)

some times  'a constant' is referred as

             "   A     "
                    *
a constant followed by a star mark to its suffix.

so,
what exactly it represents  ?
In general, what is it's use  ?

Thank you
   so long
       nimo

if you want the context;
 here it is

Int a_b   K^2 (x, t) dt   <= A
                             *

Int a_b Int a_b | k (x, t) |^2 dx dt = B^2
                                      *
