One of the nicest features of Lisp-based Macsyma in its many variants
was that the vendor could provide a patch which repaired *your bug* as soon
as it was fixed. A compiled lisp file which loaded during Macsyma
startup would correct the functions' misbehavior. It could be delivered
with ftp or emailed as an attachment. Share library files which loaded
on demand could be updated in the file tree as they became available
to those that wanted them.

Of course WRI has a list of bugs internally. Presumably they
have a checklist that says for each bug if it is fixed or
not in the development version. Unfortunately you don't have
the development version and there is generally no easy way to
give you the fixes that repair your bug on the released version.
And you do NOT want a copy of the development version because it
has other problems. So you get to wait until the next release.
