1. Usually Mathcad is not considered "symbolic math" and
maybe has another newsgroup.
2. What is in the numerator and denominator is sometimes a
matter of opinion.
consider exp(x-y). or is it 1/exp(y-z).
You have not specified what class of functions you are talking
about. If you are
talking about rational function, ratios of polynomials,
the above problem doesn't occur.
