the only posting i have seen was the OPs vaguely asking how to factorise
higher degree polynomials - i dont remember him asking about quadratics, the
factorisation of which is simple

obviously not if you have symbolic co-efficients - again i dont remember
reading that the OPs problem had symbolic co-efficients
