Hi Folks:
Perhaps someone here can point me to an appropriate
news group where I can post a wanted-to-buy notice for
a used copy of Scientific Workplace / Scientific Word.
For those who don't know, that's a computer word
processing program (compare: WordPerfect or MS Word)
but with the added ability to compose and edit for
distribution or publication documents containing
Mathematical expressions, equations, inequalities, ....
I need a _legal_ used copy, version >= 3.0 and I can't
afford a new copy from the originator.
TIA for any information.
John H. Lindsay.
I suppose one possibility would be the SWP Forums at
http://forum.mackichan.com:81/~mackichan/login
which is for users of the system. It's possible that someone would have
a copy of an earlier version for sale. The only problem I can see is
with the licensing: all versions since 3.0 require you to obtain a
license, and I'm not sure just what happens when a registered user wants
to transfer the licensed copy to someone else. On the other hand, since
this site is maintained by the developers, they'd surely be able to
answer that question.
(Also, note that if you happen to be a student, there are quite
inexpensive versions of SWP available).
