Re: Maple vs Mathematica

Can anyone list some advantages of using Mathematica over Maple?
Are there anything that Mathematica can do that Maple can't?

I might be wrong, but to my experience Mathematica's way of handling
vectors and matrices is _way_ better than Maple's. I'm talking
convenience here, not technical details.

Maple doesn't overload operators for vectors, Mathematica do. It pisses
me of really bad having to write
PleaseAddThoseTwoMatricesForMePleasePlease(A,B) instead of A+B.
Further, Maple has several ways of representing vectors and matrices,
and unless you know the definition of all library functions by heart,
it gets really messy.

I also have the impression that Mathematica's handling of vectors and
matrices (and tensors) is decidedly faster than Maple's.

My conclusion: If you work a lot with vectors, matrices or tensors,
Mathematica is your friend. Unless you're better of with numerical
software like Matlab, of course.
