This seems to be quite a good book at a rather advanced level. It is
quite rigorous, so it would probably satisfy you in that respect. It
is not exactly a linear algebra text, though. Rather it is a general
abstract algebra text. Only one chapter is devoted to linear algebra.
Many of the important theorems are discussed, but there is a lot more
to the subject than is done in this book. In particular there is
little of the geometric and analytic applications. If you really want
a linear algebra text I would recommend _Finite Dimensional Vector
Spaces_ by Halmos, and _Linear Algebra_ by Hoffman and Kunze. Both of
these have been around for 35 or 40 years so it should be possible to
find inexpensive used copies.
