Citing every useful, previous article is the expected behavior.
So, the more often your article is cited by other people, the more
valuable your article appears. However, there seem to be lots of
articles that are "born to blush unseen, and waste their sweetness on
the desert air."

Most of the time it's not /quite/ that explicit. But, if you cite me,
I'll cite you.
