in the USA there are exams such as the Graduate Entrance Exam
(GRE) and the Mathematics Subject Examination offered by the
GRE folks as well.
the GRE tests students in high school math and junior college
level language skills. the exam is essentially an expensive
joke. on the other hand, the Math Subject Exam tests students
in the basics of junior-level maths. monkeys wearing glasses
tend to do well in this one.
