Well, while you are at it you could take the position that the
definition of the ring of integers requiring roots of monic
first-degree polynomials with integer coefficients is arbitrary and
misleading in that you can have numbers properly units that are
excluded on the technicality that they are not roots of monic
first-degree polynomials with integer coefficients.

For example, 1/2 is a unit in the integers, because (1/2)*2=1, and it
is only excluded on the technicality that it is not actually an
integer.

Some minor technicality like that.
