I wouldn't have used the word "ass" if you hadn't. Ok, let's drop this part
of the discussion.
Now, tell me how you come up with d[sin(kx)]/dx = k cos(kx) in an easier way
then using the chainrule
(which, in practice, can hardly be made any easier in my opinion)
