JSH: Interesting behavior

So once I could explain the SFT using hypberbolas, all attempts at
discussing fell away, and posters not only turned to primarily using
insults, but to what they seem to think are creative parodies of the
SFT itself.

That didn't even happen to such a large extent with my prime counting
function or non-polynomial factorization.

So why now?

Simple answer is that "pure math" can't defend itself in the same way
that a practical result can, so lying about a "pure math" result not
supported by the mainstream of math society is EASY, but not so with a
practical result on the level of the factoring problem.

So then, how can these people go on?

Simple answer is that their brains are broken.

The more technical term is cognitive dissonance.

They'll go on like this indefinitely, and some of them may lose the
capacity to realize the truth no matter what happens, so yes, headlines
may trumpet a major find and the solution to the factoring problem, and
they'll still go on about how trivial my work is!!!

There is a price to pay. If you don't mind losing your mind, then
yeah, fight mathematics.

So, yes, beyond social punishments, the real consequence is a loss of
your mentality, which I think for most people is kind of a big deal,
but then for some, it's not really appreciated, or they wouldn't take
the steps needed to lose it.

In the political domain, in the US the same drama is playing out in
other areas.

As we speak there are problems that are being downplayed to the
American public, as politicians and "pundits" in this country try to
fight against reality with words.

Some of them will probably break, may have already broken, as well.

So yes, it's not as simple as saying that President George W. Bush is
anything in particular or believes anything in particular, as his mind
may have lost the capacity to completely and rationally hold on to a
particular thought.

He may no longer be in the same world as you and I, along with much of
his cabinet, and quite a few Republicans in key positions.

The US is basically now running without a functioning brain.
