No. In this sentence, "as you and I are" is an implied clause whose verb has been omitted. So the nominative case is correct.
(Yes, many people who IMHO should know better do often say "x and I" instead of "x and me" in situations where the latter is correct. One of my pet peeves! But this is not an example of such.)
The fact that JSH seldom makes a grammatical error, although he writes a great deal, shows that he is quite intelligent and well educated. Of course, it doesn't show that he knows much mathematics.
