Thank you...that has cleared a lot of things up!
by the way do you know any decent books? or websites that have information
on rings? (google searched, but no luck)

Also
the only units in the integers are 1 and -1
all the primes (and their negatives ) are irreducibles
what are all the other numbers called? or dont they have a special name?
